HRP End Of Summer Bash

First of all we would like to personally thank Megan and all the people at Hard Rock Park that made everything possible!

We are happy to report that our first ever Hard Rock Park Blog.com get together was a success and it was great getting to meet everyone personally, and too finally put a face to a name. All of our readers our fantastic. For those that missed this opportunity, we will work on having more of these events in the future.

KC & The Sunshine Band had the crowd “Get Down Tonight” while putting on our “Boogie Shoes” we discovered “That’s The Way (I Like It)” and we all witnessed “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Your Booty”. The band really put on a fantastic show, and it was a great way of ending the summer season. (For pictures see the post below called KC & The Sunshine Band Photos)

The park also had a great turn-out for the event, which was great being able to see the park filled with so many people! We were also able to take advantage of the parks Passholders Appreciation day and scored some merchandise for 40% off and got some dinner at GrEAT MEals Diner for 30% off. If you are a passholder you need to visit the park to take advantage of these great deals!

A small new update: During our visit to the park we also noticed that a RC controlled helicopter was taking what looked like satellite type photos of various places throughout the park. I am not sure what the park is going to do with these photos, but it was cool to see.

Once again thanks to Hard Rock Park for making such a memorable night for us and all of our members!

Looks like you all had alot of fun. I have a question for anyone who was there, was Max RPM running? I read on another site (screamscape, sometimes reliable sometimes not) that it had been having problems this week and wasn’t running for much of the week. They also report a rumor going around that the ride may be closing for the rest of the season. So was it running? Did it look like it might be closing at all?

David yes it was closed yesterday, I do not know about the whole week though. I read the rumor on Screamscape as well, and to me it doesn’t make much sense that they would not be trying to get Max RPM! up and running. It didn’t loook like it was closing at least not to me.

fantastic.. my wife was looking forward to this one all summer, and loved every minute of it.. I never would have gotten my son (17) to watch this, if it wasn’t for the seats.. to him, it was like watching an old fat guy up there, like his dad.. but he sat thru about half of it.. and I caught most of the rest of it from the back..

thanks guys, and a big thanks to HRP for the seats!

All 3 of us had a Great time and thanks Asriel for setting this up for us. I was disapointed that Max RPM and Slippery was down because I had out of town guest that has never been to the park ,atleast I’m happy that Zeppelin was open (:

We were gutted we missed meeting you. We got caught up in traffic coming down from Wilmington, and by the time we had parked, got in (avoiding the helcopter complete with film crew who wanted me to move out the way quick because I was in the shot) and got across to the statue it was nearly 6:30pm. It was nice to see the park have a decent attendance, thats the best I have seen it since Kid Rock. It was terribly humid though, we watched the show from the grass area near the smoking bench, it wasnt much fun for my wife, who got very hot and tired, but we both enjoyed our evening. Again, sorry we missed you, I hope our seats didnt go to waste

Last night, I had a great time at HRP. The concert, the workers, and the rides were wonderful.

Magilla – I actually held on to two tickets until about 8:40 that evening and I just kept an eye out for any ladies that were pregnant around the park to ask if she was with you. I didn’t see any :( We were waiting but we couldn’t keep waiting cause everyone wanted to get going around the park. I hope your wife still enjoyed herself though!

    Hi Everyone,
Didn’t make it to the park until 6:40pm. I am sorry I missed everyone. From the photo I can see most did get to meet up. It was a gorgeous evening with a great crowd. That is what we need all the time.
Had dinner at the park both friday and saturday night. Ate at Alice’s friday I must say the food was wonderful. Thanks to HRP for a wonderful weekend. Employees are always pleasant. Did quite a bit of shopping yesterday. (Christmas is coming ya know!) I think it was absolutely wonderful that we were given special seating and even though I did not take advantage of it is appreciated. Off to the park again.

I just wanted to say Thank You so very much for arranging our get together – it was nice meeting a few of you. Thanks Asriel for getting the special seats – I had looked forward to that concert all summer long and it did not disappoint – I enjoyed every minute of it! After singing every song I could hardly talk today! I spent most of the day at the park and enjoyed some wonderful food and shopping too – my friends loved the park and plan on bringing their entire family down now. Although it was extremely humid, we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. I was also disappointed with the two rides closed, but we had to take advantage of Reggae Falls to cool off (something I never thought I would do!) We also noticed the little helicopter too. Thanks to all for an awesome night and also to the HRP staff who pretty much had to keep fighting people out of our seats – they were so great! Hope to see everyone again -wish I lived closer to the park!

Asriel, Thanks anyway for your efforts. After we missed you we went and ate at a taste of paradise purely becauswe have never eaten there, it was ok, and then after watching roadies we just went everywhere and anywhere with air-con, – white satin, country on the rocks etc. But she, as well as I, had a great time, although it took a lot out of her, she slept in today to nearly noon!! :)

    Asriel,

Thanks again for the wrist bands. We all had a great time. Just got back to Alabama (6:45pm central time). Hope to get back soon. Had a wonderful time at the park. Great to meet everyone from the blog.

I plan to go to Myrtle Beach and Hard Rock Park on September 19/20/21 and wonder if it will be open. Will anybody here want to meet us?

  14. 14 Ken

    Bob,

The park should be open on Fri.,Sat.&Sun. as the park is now on thier weekend schedule. There is a Tropical storm/Hurricane that could possibly threaten Myrtle Beach by the weekend and if so,it depends on if the park gets any damage.

  15. 15 Ken

I hope this is not our last get togather at HRP, Our dear sweet Sun News has posted on the “front page” about one of the investors claiming that his $25 million investment to the park is worthless,Ofcorse it’s on the internet along with overflooding commets of I Told you so’s that this park is closing it’s doors according to all the local naysayers.
What I want to know is where was Sun News last Saturday when the park was packed full of people? I did’nt see anything from the Sun News on that. If I were John Bonkawsky I would be seriously working on a lawsuit against the Sun News for posting nothing but nagaitve post against the park all summer long.

My son and I also had a blast at the concert, thanks again Asriel for the wristbands. Sorry Magilla :( I probably ended up with yours. I understand that Max was down all week, we also noticed that the Fish restaurant was closed too. I hope during the winter break, that the roller coaster company fixes the issues with both of their rides (Max and Slippery). Did you guys see the article from Sun News about the investor? The part I noticed was at the end, where HPR said, they were planning a Halloween event. I just thought I would let you guys know, if you haven’t seen it already.

  17. 17 Ms. Charlie

In regards to the helicopter, word is they were filming for a commercial.

  18. 18 magilla442

    Ms Charlie,

Absolutely need to apologise, we enjoyed ourselves, just a shame we were unable to joing the blog gang on the night, maybe next time I wont get stuck behind idiots on 17 and will get there on time.
